The beach itself is very wide being over two miles from Whitby pier at one end to Sandsend village at the other. The sand is a gritty mix of sand and clay
Situated in Whitby, just North of Robin Hood's Bay , West Cliff Beach remains a very popular family holiday destination, with a great range of typical attraction including local amusements, museums, golf, and donkey rides to cater for all ages.
Just around the corner from Whitby, you’ll find the beautiful village of Sandsend. It is so close that from the beach you can see Whitby Pier and Whitby Abbey.
There are number of local hotels, cottages and self catering options in Whitby.
Robin Hood's Bay is a small fishing village and bay located in the North York Moors National Parks and only six miles south of Whitby.
Runswick Bay is a very pretty place to visit on the Yorkshire coast with its stunning sweeping and sheltered bay and beautiful red roof cottages.
It is not recommended to swim at Whitby.
Tripadvisor: Whitby Beach type sand is very much a typical bucket and spade sandy beach that starches for over two miles. The beach is flat with lovely sand and bright beach huts.
The West Cliff beach in Whitby is dog friendly certain months of the year, however dogs are not allowed from the West Pier to the East side of the beach steps from the beginning of May to the end of September.
