Talacre beach enjoys miles of golden sand backed by dunes. It is located across the River Dee from the Wirral over the English and Welsh border.
While the beach is quiet during the winter it becomes very busy during the summer months due to a number of local holiday parks and caravan sites just over the dunes.
The Point of Ayr Lighthouse or Talacre Lighthouse, is a grade II listed building built in 1776 and warned ships entering between the Dee and Mersey Estuary. The lighthouse has since been replaced and now in a privately owned property.
The area around Telacre beach and dunes is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with rare species including a collection of natterjack toads.
