Red Wharf bay is located on the east coast of Anglesey, North Wales between the villages of Pentraeth and Benllech. It is bordered by salt marshes and sand dunes and at low tide visitors enjoy a stunning area of fine sand – around 10 square miles of sand. The bay is a designated nature reserve and benefits from a diverse number of birds including shelduck and dunlin.
The village is located on the water’s edge and has both local restaurants and hotels.
Pentraeth Forest offers an excellent views of the bay and an appreciation of the vast area of sand when the tide is out. The forest is home to a population of red squirrels.
The Anglesey Coastal Path is 130 miles (200km) in total and passes through beautiful farmland, coastal heath and woodland.
Red Wharf Bay has three popular places to eat including the Boathouse, The Ship Inn and The Tavern on the Bay gastro pub.
There are a number of hotel options nearby including Chateau Rhianfa and the California Hotel.
