Minehead beach, also known as The Strand, is a wide expanse of sand that includes areas of shingle and rock pools. As the tide goes out this sandy stretch of beach becomes perfect for beach games and building sandcastles.
There are a number of great places to eat food and drink including the Old Ship Aground and Echo Beach Café.
There are a number of local hotels to stay at including the Beach Hotel close to the water.
Somerset is a county in South West England which borders Gloucestershire and Bristol to the north, Wiltshire to the east, Dorset to the south-east and Devon to the south-west. It has a number of first class beaches that are worth visiting.
There are a number of other beaches on the coast worth visiting including Sandy Beach Bay, Burnham on Sea and Blue Anchor Bay Beach.
Burnham-on-Sea is a friendly seaside town in Somerset at the mouth of the River Parrett. Burnham was a small fishing village until the late 18th century when it began to grow because of its popularity as a seaside resort.
Sandy Bay is a secluded bay with a sand beach over a mile long in Exmouth, Devon. It is a sandy beach with rock pools at one end, backed by high cliffs.
Blue Anchor Bay beach is a lovely sand and shingle beach alongside the village of Blue Anchor in West Somerset. A great place for a dog walk or Sunday stroll, the beach stretches for miles with views across to Wales and North Hill at Minehead.
Tripadvisor: Other outdoor attractions near by is the West Somerset railway and the national trust Dunster Castle Watermill.
Minehead is one of Somerset's most popular holiday resorts and the beach is very busy in high season.
It is best to swim in the bay after having checked the tides, as swimming from behind the harbour.
Minehead has a wonderful sandy beach with areas of pebbles and shingle.
Minehead is arguably one of the best beaches in Somerset, with a nice high street, well maintained beach and close to the popular West Somerset Railway.
There are public toilets at Minehead beach.
We recommend visiting the Blenheim Gardens park.
There are a number of car parks including Summerland Car Park, Quay West Car Park and North Road Car Park.
The main bathing beach in between the harbour and golf course allows dogs October to April.
