Southend on Sea is located in the county of Essex in the United Kingdom and benefits from seven miles of sandy beaches including three blue flag beaches and seven quality coast awards.
Beaches worth visiting are highlighted below.
Westcliff Beach offers beautiful walks and is well positioned for the world-famous Rossi ice cream emporium. In addition you will find the famous Archway Cafes, where you can grab a delicious snack or meal.
Chalkwell beach is perfect for long relaxing walks with a number of friendly cafes and kiosks selling traditional seaside food. A large granite obelisk from the 19th Century known as The Crowstone can be seen just off the beach, partially submerged when the tide is in.
Bell Wharf beach (Leigh on sea) is a nice beach with traditional pubs, a café, and The Boatyard.
Shoebury East Beach is a lovely long sandy beach. Relax on the sand and watch the kite surfers and paddle boarders take to the water.
The Three shells beach is in central Southend,and named after the cafe kiosk on the front. It is a really nice sandy beach with plenty of local facilities.
Jubilee Beach is a busy shingle beach with a paved promenade with cafes and a nearby pier.
Southend Pier is is a major landmark in Southend-on-Sea, extending over 1.3 miles into the Thames Estuary, it is the longest pleasure pier in the world packed with amazing attractions.
We recommend also visiting Frinton-on-sea Beach, Jaywick Beach & Holland on Sea Beach
With seven miles of sandy beaches including three blue flag beaches and seven quality coast awards, Southend-on-Sea is a must visit for beach lovers.
Southend-on-Sea has a number of lovely beaches which all offer different options. I personally would recommend Bell Wharf Beach.
If you like the feel of sand between your toes then you will be pleased to know that all of Southend’s beaches are at least part sand.
You can get train tickets from London Fenchurch Street to Southend. Travel time from London is between 45 mins to 1 hour.
Hotels near Southend-On-Sea which have nice views include City Beach AirBnB along with Pier View Self Catering Luxury Apartments and Pebbles Guest House. All have enjoyed excellent reviews from many guests.
