Black Rock Sands (also known as Morfa Bychan), is a sandy beach in gwynedd Wales in the UK with rocky areas. Unlike the name, the rocks are not actually black. The beach is around 2 miles and is backed by a dune system which has been designated as a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).
There are a number of local hotels and cottages nearby.
There are a number of camping and caravan parks near Black Rock Sands perfect for a holiday including Haven Greenacres and Black Rock Sands Touring and Camping Park.
Other Beaches in North Wales worth visiting include the beaches on Anglesey, Barmouth and Abersoch.
Porthmadog is situated just outside The Snowdonia National Park on the Afon Glaslyn estuary, which runs into Tremadog Bay. We also recommend visting Portmeirion where The sci-fi series the Prisoner was filmed. Well worth a view.
Dogs are banned from the central section of the beach, but the beach is dog friendly on the eastern and western sections.
You can drive onto the beach here and as a result it is popular for motor boats and water bikes which have a special zone designated for their use.
A great beach you can park on, costs £5 per car for the full day
Local attractions include Black Rock Llamas and Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways
You are advised not to swim.
